Ah, yes, you love Bimmer and Bimmer wants you to learn some better BMW car care. Sad, but true. Your Bimmer needs a little pampering.
BMW Car Care Basics
Good BMW Car Care starts with keeping your Bimmer squeaky clean and shiny. This is going to require a weekly washing. Now that the drought enforcement has eased, it is easier than ever to give Bimmer a thorough scrubbing.
When you don’t wash your Bimmer every week, all that bird poop, tree sap and bug squish sit on your clear coat finish and start eating away at it. At best this will cause your car to look dull over time and at worst your paint won’t be protected. So, put car wash on the calendar each week. And remember, you can wash your car at home, but your hose needs to be turned off when it is not in use. No hose running water the whole time you’re scrubbing. And only wash your car in the shade. Washing in the sunshine will cause spots to dry before you’re ready. This will damage the Bimmer’s finish.
Use the gentle detergents that are created for washing cars. You never want to use a degreaser like Dawn or a laundry detergent on your car, because it removes the wax.
Always have extra washing sponges. If you drop a sponge on the ground, it’ll pick up dirt and debris. This can scratch your car. So, if you drop the sponge, toss it aside and use a new sponge.
Rinse well and dry off your car. Air drying will leave spots, so wipe down your car with a microfiber cloth or shammy.
